Cris is a Set & Costume Designer for Theatre, Film, Live Performance and Events; also specialising in design development and fabrication for contemporary artists, public artworks and large-scale commercial installations.
Designs for theatre include; set & costume designer for Thomas Weatherall’s BLUE (Belvoir Theatre), HORSES directed by Tait deLorenzo (Belvoir 25A), PIRATES CODE (Civic Theatre), Nathan Maynard’s GOD’s COUNTRY directed by Liza Marie-Syron, EX-MACHINA directed by Finn Caldwell , AH TUZANBACH: MELANCHOLY CABARET directed by Oleg Glushkov, and IN A YEAR WITH 13 MOONS (NIDA). He also designed costumes for THE BLUBIRDS MECHANICALS (Metro Arts). Cris was Associate Designer on SEX MAGICK (Griffin Theatre), BOOMKAK PANTO (Belvoir Theatre) DARKNESS (5 Eliza, New Theatricals), THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS & MAHOGANY SONGSPIEL (Redline Productions). He was costume supervisor on THE MOUSETRAP (Nationwide Tour, Cross Roads Live), costume and props supervisor on FANGIRLS (Queensland Theatre Company / Belvoir Theatre), props master COUNTING & CRACKING (Sydney Festival / Belvoir Theatre), and construction manager / props supervisor on THINGS I KNOW TO BE TRUE directed by Neil Armfield, THE WOLVES and costume / props assistant DANCE OF DEATH directed by Judy Davis (Belvoir Theatre) and costume assistant DUMY MOYI by Francois Chagnaud (Carriageworks).
For screen, Cris was Tess Scofield’s Assistant Costume Designer for the feature films The Drovers Wife: The legend of Molly Johnson directed by Leah Purcell (Bunya/Oombarra Productions) and Thirteen Lives directed by Ron Howard (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer). He was a set designer and 3D Modeller on THOR: Love and Thunder directed by Taika Waititi, and a speciality costume maker on Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Marvel Studios). Cris was production & costume designer on Bella Taylor Smith’s music video for UNAWARE (Sony EMI), costume designer on Zela Margossian Quintet's music video The Road, and production & costume designer on the short film LAST NIGHT for Prototype.
Cris’ costumes have been received internationally; In Moscow, his costume CELCUS was exhibited at the Innovative Costumes of the 21st Century: The Next Generation at the State Historical Museum. He was also finalist in the World of Wearable Art in Wellington, New Zealand.
He has also designed events nationally for the CAMPARI GROUP (Biennale of Sydney 2020-2024, Sydney Contemporary 2021) and tourable sets for live music act HERMITUDE (International Tour + Aria Awards).
A Design graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, Cris also holds an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design. In 2023 he was nominated for four Australian Production Design Guild Awards across multiple categories.
